For over 2 decades Mikiala has dedicated her life to ministry in the local church. Since 2014 she has served as a Youth Director with a passion for discipling students and leading volunteers who care about the next generation. Mikiala currently serves as the Student Discipleship Program Director at Church of the Resurrection in the Kansas City metro area. Resurrection is the largest United Methodist Church in the United States. 

In 2010 Mikiala earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications followed by a Master of Arts in Human Services with a focus on student ministry. Mikiala is a talented speaker and writer. She speaks at student ministry retreats and camps and has served as pulpit supply in the local church. For seven years, Mikiala wrote and edited middle and high school curriculum for Orange, Methodist summer camps, and community wide student retreats. Mikiala continues to write curriculum regularly in her ministry context alongside a team of youth directors with much of the collaboratively created content available for free at ShareChurch.Com. Mikiala has been on many student ministry podcasts including Women in Youth Ministry, Youth Ministry Booster, and currently serves as the cohost to the Ministry to Youth Stories podcast.

Mikiala loves diving into stories of all kinds through books, music, theater, series, and movies. Binging is one of her superpowers and she is a self-proclaimed Marvel fanatic. Mikiala is rarely seen without her sidekick, KiKi Okoye. She’s a ten-pound Yorkie who is also passionate about ministering to teenagers by providing unconditional love and happiness.
